FOOTBALL
While football has become "America's sport" it's innate physical contact has become of major concern over the past few years. In particular, contact to the head and neck areas have been reason for many changes in the game. Many stadiums have also changed, others haven't. Football players perform their task in and outdoors in temperatures that can range from far below freezing to temperatures that can challenge the heat index. Games can be played on natural or synthetic turf saturated in rain, covered with snow with loose and slippery sod.
The various positions played in football require some very specific tasks and skills. Both offensive and defensive linemen (often weighing in excess of 300 pounds must not only move their bodies but the body of their opponents as well. Backs and receivers are a bit smaller but their task requires moving at a much higher rate of speed. Movement patterns for all is pretty much the same. These athletes need to be able to move left, right, forward, backward and jump "in a blink". Needing to be "one with the "cleat", the interaction of the foot and ankle for ultimate stability and propulsion is at a premium. Full and firm contact with the foot and scleat is not a choice, it's a requirement. Any access movement between the foot and cleat will deter from both efficiency and injury prevention.
Sole Supports orthotics are casted in a 5 step MASS Posture (Maximum Arch Supination Stabilization) process to allow a footprint that captures the true medial longitudinal arch, lateral longitudinal arch and transverse arch of the foot. Therefore, a MASS Posture orthotic offers full contact with the foot, both weight bearing and non weight bearing. What does this mean? It means that there is no lapse in support, unlike other orthotics. With Sole Supports weight and activity based calibration system, the orthotic will assist (not stop) the biomechanics of the foot within the cleat. What it won't do is offer a lapse in support/contact resulting in impact friction between the foot and the device.
The Sole Supports orthotic creates the ultimate posture for the athlete's foot inside the cleat, without any wasted movement. This ideal posture allows the athlete to function efficiently resulting in proper form on the playing surface. Again, Sole Supports offers a full contact and weight calibrated orthotic in every phase of the football players motion regardless of position ..
In addition, Sole Supports offers an option to increase the support of the orthotic by adding a Leaf. By adding a Leaf (30, 50 and 100 pound increments) under the medial longitudinal arch of the orthotic, the athlete is prepared to effectively exert forces above and beyond their body weight while maintaining correct posture of the foot.
What also must not be forgotten is that while the athlete hones their skills and physically stresses their body while on the playing field and in the weight room, improvement comes during the rest cycles. When the athlete is not practicing, they are resting. Perfect posture during the rest period leads to proper function and form throughout the kinetic chain.
